In addition to the foundation your pup would learn in the fundamental program, this program takes your pup to the next level. More time with us means more repetitions. More repetitions means better retention. This means your pup will be solid around distractions, not just in a controlled environment.

What Your Dog Will Learn During The Intermediate Program

WEEK ONE YOUR DOG WILL LEARN THE FUNDAMENTAL PROGRAM SKILLS!

  • Manners: No Jumping, No leash pulling, Respecting thresholds, How to behave in the kennel, Ignoring distractions.
  • Basic Commands: Sit, Down, Place, Heel, Recall.
  • Loose Leash Walking - No pulling on walks and increased focus.
  • Proper greeting of dogs and people.

THE SECOND WEEK YOUR DOG WILL LEARN:

  • Impulse control: Ignoring its environment, while under distractions.
  • Basic Commands Sit, Down, Place, Recall, with elevated distractions for duration.
  • Outings: We will take your pup on outings to proof skills, in real life scenarios
  • Off Leash Freedom: With a little work at home, you’ll have a pup that you can enjoy Off Leash

My pup did board and train with West TN and has also done daycare. The staff is extremely helpful, patient, and always willing to answer any questions. They do training classes and “community” events for their clients, which is a wonderful way of connecting with other owners.

Sending your dog for training is not a cheap investment, so it’s important to do your research and make your own decision, but if you’re looking for recommendations, I give West TN, 5 stars.

The cat desensitization training and general obedience at home has been excellent after West Tennessee K9 worked with him. Atlas went for both the puppy and adult week long board and train sessions. He is a high energy German shepherd with a strong prey drive, and to see him co exist with the cats has been wonderful. The report card updates and pictures are appreciated for anxious puppy parents. We will definitely be taking advantage of their programs in the future.

First, they have a brand new, beautiful facility that they recently moved to, but most importantly, the entire staff are knowledgeable and really do care about your pet! They have years of experience and know what they're doing. I'm so proud of my Lola since she finished her 2-week board and train session. She's a blue heeler, so you know she's VERY active. They were very friendly with my Lilly and she was a hard case as she is a basset hound! She has brought the training home and come along way since she went to school. Gypsy was a very active puppy, and my hasband and I had a harder time training her then our other dogs. Enter West TN K9! They were fantastic from start to finish! We took Gypsy for the 7 day board and train in mid September 2024. We received report cards daily and our training session, when Gypsy was done with her training, was a great help! We are all still in training, but Gypsy is a different dog! Calm, listens well and, for the most part, ignores the cats! IYKYK! Thank you so much West TN K9 for all you have done for our family!

Writing this 9 months after my dog's 4-week board and train he has retained everything he has learned. I can finally bring him around friends and family. Their training regime is 2nd to none! They give you all the tools and information needed to make your pup exactly how you want them and your dog doesn't lose their "spark". Something I was worried about with leaving my dog with a trainer for 4 weeks was that he wouldn't still be affectionate/ sweet but that could be farther from true. They really allow your dog to build confidence with socializing and e-collar training. When we did our take home session I could see immediately the impact it had on my dog with his obedience and aggression and after 9 months he has only gotten better. Overall I am more than pleased with their services! The facility was extremely clean, the staff was incredibly sweet, and the trainers were incredible. I cannot recommend them enough if you had a crazy dog like me!

When I say this is THE place to send your dog, I truly mean it. I don’t even know where to begin! My big baby, Blue - a 120-pound, 5-year-old Cane Corso - had struggled with behavior issues for years. I often felt defeated and out of control, which was especially challenging with a ‘no longer a puppy,’ large breed dog. I had previously heard of West TN K9 and how great they were, so I gave them a call and after speaking with Taylor, who was so knowledgeable and accommodating, she recommended the 21-day board and train program. Knowing Blue’s history, they went above and beyond to tailor the experience to him. For the first three days, they arranged pick-up and drop-off to ease him into the program, assessing him carefully to ensure he’d be comfortable staying for the full training. This level of care and flexibility immediately put my mind at ease!!

From day one, they reached out to update me on Blue’s progress - something they didn’t have to do but chose to, showing just how committed they are to each dog. Post-training, Blue has been a different dog. I finally feel a sense of relief and confidence knowing how to blend the training he received with our home rules. The resources, support, and reassurance the WTK9 team provided made all the difference.

A special shoutout to Blue’s phenomenal trainer, Bailey, who guided us every step of the way and provided the best updates, and to Mack, who loves Blue almost as much as he loves her! I could go on forever about this team’s dedication and care. If you’re looking for training, support, and a place that truly cares about your fur baby’s well-being, WTK9 is the absolute best choice. We loved WTK9!!! They did so well with Nova and her training. We are just so grateful for the night and day difference. Our main problem was with our cat Lizzy. Nova has done so wonderfully with the cat since her return home. I was so thankful for the connection they kept with us during her stay and loved her daily report cards. Bailey and the staff did a wonderful job and will definitely recommend them to anyone who wants a well mannered dog!!
